King "Loved Every Part" of Texas Tech Visit

Texas Tech offered Manvel quarterback D'Eriq King in June at one of its satellite camps. The 2016 four-star athlete visited Lubbock earlier this week and caught up with him for a recap of the trip.

Four-star athlete D'Eriq King is regarded as one of the most highly-sought-after 2016 prospects in the state of Texas.

King’s stellar sophomore campaign saw the rising star total 53 TDs and pile on almost 4,000 total yards as the Manvel signal caller, however, many schools are recruiting him at wide receiver.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Manvel star has kept busy this summer and just recently visited the Texas Tech campus to see what all the buzz around the Red Raider program is all about.

So how did King’s recent official visit go?

"It went really well,” King said.” I enjoyed every part of the visit to Lubbock. When I was down there, I really liked everything!”

King also added that he enjoyed the opportunity to interact with the Texas Tech coaching staff and players.

“It was good to get a feel about how they coach and how they run the program. The players all said that they have the coolest coaching staff in the country, so that's definitely a plus."

King mentioned a few weeks ago that Tech is the early front runner, but has anything changed since then?

"Tech is still high on my list especially after getting up there easily one of my early favorites still. But I have a few favorites so far in Tech, Baylor, and UCLA."

It is apparent that Baylor and UCLA are also very high on King’s list, but will Texas Tech be the last stop of Deriq King’s summer tour?

“I might be going up to Baylor for a visit soon before camp starts, but we’ll see."

King also tweeted Friday afternoon “Headed to UT”.

Deriq King is rated as the No. 41 receiver in the nation, as well as the No. 192 overall prospect on and holds offers from Baylor, Texas Tech, Michigan State, Clemson, Louisville, and UCLA.
