All of the Texas Tech fans clamoring for more of a punch in the running game might be getting their wish soon.
With the addition of left tackle Dominique Robertson from Riverside Community College in the 2014 recruiting class Le'Raven Clark's move back to guard has been speculated by many, hinted at by the Texas Tech coaches and Sunday at media day it was confirmed.
"Yeah I believe that is the plan for me to go inside right now so we'll see how that works out," Clark said. "It doesn't matter to me where I play, wherever coach decides he wants me to play I'm going to do. I'm basically just moving back to my old position where I played my redshirt freshman year. It's not too much of a difference."
Clark added he thought the line would get more movement up front this season and that the offensive line would be more experienced with more depth.
In addition to more bodies and more athleticism up front Tech is also looking at some more running schemes aimed at increasing effectiveness while simultaneously keeping the breakneck mometum of the offense going.
"We've definitely added some new running schemes, you know coach Kingsbury went to visit Chip Kelly and the Eagles this offseason and tried to come up with some new ideas," Texas Tech offensive coordinator Eric Morris said. "We have some good ideas and we're installing some new things this camp. Hopefully we can get more movement with the line that is going to be here.
"Hopefully Dominique Robertson pans out at left tackle because Le'Raven Clark will be a huge addition for us to get movement inside and we can give it to some of these young running backs who are great athletes. I think some of these young guys such as Justin Stockton and his speed will give us the ability to blow the top off, too."
