Texas Tech Commits Shine

A recap of how Texas Tech commits and their respective high school teams performed last week. Red Raider four-star running back pledge Corey Dauphine (pictured above) racked up over 200 yards on the ground for Port Arthur Memorial.

Madison Akamnonu, OL, Arlington Bowie
Akamnonu provided great run blocking in a 45-34 victory over Colleyville Heritage. He did not commit any penalties. Bowie has a date with Arlington Sam Houston 7 p.m. Thursday at Arlington’s Wilemon Stadium.

Corey Dauphine, RB, Port Arthur Memorial
The Titans saw their undefeated record fall against Richmond George Ranch 42-32. That did not stop Dauphine from having an impressive night. The four-star prospect carried the ball 25 times racking up 218 yards. This amounts to 8.7 yards per carry. He also had a 10-yard reception. Memorial will host Channelview 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium.

Conner Dyer, OL, Mesquite Horn
Mesquite Horn had a bye week. The Jaguars will play district rival Mesquite 7:30 p.m. Friday at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.

Trace Ellison, OL, Frisco Centennial
The Titans opened district play with a 31-28 victory over Frisco Heritage. Centennial’s offense scored three rushing touchdowns including a 92-yard Anthony Pegues run which would be the difference maker. The Titans provided 233 rushing yards altogether. Centennial plays Frisco 7 p.m. Thursday at Toyota Stadium.

Breiden Fehoko, DL, Farrington (Hawaii)
Farrington was off this week. They’ll face Mililani 7 p.m. Friday.

Jonathan Giles, QB, Fort Bend Elkins *committed as a receiver
Elkins had a bye week. The Knights head to Texas City 7 p.m. Friday at Stingaree Stadium.

D’Vonta Hinton, OLB, Texas City
The Stingarees took a break from the game field. If you don’t know who Texas City plays, take a peek at the next game Jonathan Giles plays in.

Jarrett Stidham, QB, Stephenville
Stidham had another great game, but Stephenville mistakes led to a loss on national television against Lubbock Cooper. The five-star commit completed 27 of 38 passes for 340 yards and four touchdowns. Stidham also carried the ball nine times for 59 yards. He threw one interception which sealed a 50-39 Lubbock Cooper victory. The Yellow Jackets host Alvarado 7:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium.

Collin Wilder, S, Katy (2016 commit)
The Tigers are over their sorrows. After having their 50-game regular season win streak snapped, Katy took their frustrations out on Katy Mayde Creek 63-6. Mayde Creek was held to 108 total yards and punted six times. Katy is 1-0 in district 19-6A and faces Katy Taylor 7 p.m. Friday at Rhodes Stadium.
