Texas Tech quarterback Davis Webb threw four interceptions Saturday, marking the most picks thrown by a Red Raider quarterback since 2007. Tech lost the turnover battle, 4-1, and has now lost the turnover battle in 13 consecutive contests. The Red Raiders are 5-8 in those games. Webb is tied with two other quarterbacks at No. 4 in the nation in interceptions thrown this season with 10. It's worth noting three signal callers are tied at 11 for the top (worst) spot and former Red Raider Michael Brewer, now at Virginia Tech, is one of them.
45 and 535
Kansas State scored 45 points and rolled up 535 yards of total offense Saturday. Texas Tech has given up a combined 90 points and 1,063 in two Big 12 games this season. Unlike Oklahoma State, who did most of its damage through the air, Kansas State, led by quarterback Jake Waters, used a balanced attack with 290 yards passing and 245 on the ground.
For the second consecutive game Tech gave up four passing touchdowns and a rushing score to the opposing quarterback. Kansas State's Jake Waters passed for 290 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for a game-high 105 yards and the one score. Daxx Garman threw for 370 yards, four touchdowns and ran for 37 yards and a score for Oklahoma State the week before.
Texas Tech only attempted 14 rushes Saturday night for 46 yards and that included a sack and a kneel down at the end of the first half. The Red Raiders entered Saturday's contest averaging 29 carries for 157.3 yards per game. 14 attempts is the fewest rushing attempts in a game by the Red Raiders since a 24-17 loss to Oklahoma State on Nov. 14, 2009.
Kansas State dominated time of possession by a 2-1 margin as the Wildcats had the ball for 40:09. Offensive coaches love to say how the time of possession stat is overrated. Tell that to the defenders who were out on the field for 40 minutes Saturday night.
