Week 10 Big 12 Picks

RaiderPower.com senior writer Joe Yeager and publisher Jarret Johnson pick every Big 12 game against the spread. Yeager holds a three-game lead on the season going into this week's games, which is headlined by TCU at West Virginia.

Oklahoma (-16.5) at Iowa State 11 a.m. Saturday on FS1
Joe: I'll take Iowa State to cover. The Cyclones are spirited enough that they don't get blown out very often, especially at home. Paul Rhoads must be one heck of a motivator.
Jarret: I agree Iowa State plays tough at home, but this Oklahoma squad should be pretty sharp after a pair of blips earlier in the season. Iowa State gives up 35 points a game (only Tech allows more in the Big 12), but I see Oklahoma putting up around 50 and cruising by three touchdowns. Sooners in a rout.

TCU (-5.5) at West Virginia 2:30 p.m. on ABC
Joe: I'll take West Virginia not only to cover, but to win. I think the Frogs peaked against Tech and will now begin to descend. And WVU is very tough at home this year.
Jarret: I generally just pick the team I think will win if the spread is under a touchdown, but I can really see this being a close game, with TCU escaping on a late field goal. So, while I think TCU will win, I will take West Virginia and the points at home.

Kansas (+36) at Baylor 3 p.m. on FS1
Joe: I'll take Baylor to cover against KU, although it really depends on Briles' mood. If he's feeling ornery, Baylor covers with room to spare. If he calls the dogs off early enough KU could conceivably cover.
Jarret: 36 points is a lot, but I agree, I think Baylor covers.

Oklahoma State (+14.5) at Kansas State 7 p.m. on ABC
Joe: I'll take the Cats to cover, although it could be pretty close. KSU doesn't have the firepower to blow out too many Big 5 teams, but the Cowboys will be lucky to score much more than Texas did.
Jarret: Oklahoma State has really been on a slide recently and one of the reasons is its abysmal pass defense. The Cowboys allow a Big 12 worst 282.1 passing yards per game. Jake Waters, Tyler Lockett and Co. will tear them up and cruise to an easy win. I like K-State big.

Texas (-5) at Texas Tech 6:30 p.m. on FS1
Joe: I'll take Texas to cover against Tech with room to spare. This is just a very bad Tech football team that is not improving, while Texas is very slowly getting better. 44-14 Horns.
Jarret: Man, I really want to pick Tech here. I mean getting five at home against a bad team... but I can't. Texas owns Tech and this is one the worst Red Raider teams of all-time.
