Furquan Shorts announced his commitment to Texas Tech on Sunday.
Things escalated quickly after the 6-foot-2, 195-pound receiver announced he received an offer from the Red Raiders on Oct. 27. A week later he declared he was decommitting from UTSA, just days after that he made an official visit to Texas Tech and then Sunday he committed.

Shorts, rated as a three-star receiver by Scout, finished the regular season for 9-1 Humble Atascocita with 39 catches for 706 yards and nine touchdowns. According to his head coach, Craig Stump, Texas Tech is getting, "One of the fastest players in the region."
In an interview with RaiderPower.com last week, Stump added he believes Shorts is the best receiver in the Houston area.
"I think with his size and mobility and the speed that he possesses at 195, close to 200 pounds, that’s hard to match. And his ability to get the ball. He’s got strong hands and snatches the ball.”
Shorts is the third receiver commit for Texas Tech of the 2015 class joining four-star Carlos Strickland from Dallas Skyline and Jonathan Giles a standout quarterback for Fort Bend Elkins projected as a three-star inside receiver at the next level. Tech co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach Eric Morris said recently the Red Raiders plan on taking 4-5 receivers in the 2015 class.
Texas Tech now has 14 commits for the current recruiting cycle, including 10 on offense; one quarterback, one running back, the three receivers and five offensive linemen.
Shorts chose Tech over offers from BYU, Colorado, Kansas, louisiana Tech, Memphis, New Mexico, North Texas, UTSA and Utah.
