Video: Dyer, Mesquite Horn "Smash" MacArthur

Mesquite Horn four-star offensive tackle Conner Dyer helped the Jaguars knock off Irving MacArthur in their first round playoff matchup on Friday. RaiderPower.com shot clips of Dyer at work and interviewed him after.

Mesquite Horn defeated Irving MacArthur 48-34 in the bi-district round of the Class 6A Division I Region 2 Texas State playoffs Friday night in DeSoto.

The two teams combined for over 1,000 yards and a big reason for Horn’s production was offensive lineman Conner Dyer.

Dyer, a Texas Tech commit, had multiple pancakes and frustrated players on the opposing defense all night. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound future Red Raider would run 20 yards down field if he didn’t see someone in front of him to block.

“It’s just fun to smash people,” Dyer said after the game.

Horn head coach Mike Overton spoke about the style of play Dyer brings to the table.

“He’s a tenacious player. He’s a great finisher on blocks and he’s a true winner, a true physical ballplayer and that’s what you got to have on the offensive line.”

Horn (10-1) advances to the area round of the playoffs where it will face Garland Rowlett (8-3) 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
