Texas Tech Still in the Mix for Walker

RaiderPower.com caught up with Ponchatoula (LA) DE Reggie Walker for an update on his recruitment.

Texas Tech is still in the mix for Ponchatoula (LA) defensive end Reggie Walker who will make his decision after he makes visits.

The Ponchatoula Green Wave went undefeated in the regular season and Walker ended his season with 48 tackles and nine sacks.

Walker, who stands at 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds, announced this summer that Texas Tech, Arkansas and Florida are in his top three. He said right now those schools still stand but added Kansas State to his top schools.

The Wildcats have been recruiting Walker the hardest and he said he added them because the coaches are really nice and he has a good relationship with them.

As for the Red Raiders, they are still on the radar for Walker. He said he and coach Kevin Curtis are close and talk once a week. He added he likes Texas Tech’s plan for him in the program, which sounds very similar to how the coaches utilize Pete Robertson as a hybrid linebacker/defensive end.

“I would be a very good defensive player in their scheme,” Walker said.

Walker watched Texas Tech season finale against Baylor and said he was impressed by their performance and that was the best they played all year.

Before Walkermakes a decision he said he wanted to visit Texas Tech and the other schools in his top four. He added that he has not scheduled any visits yet.

“After I start visiting a decision could be made at anytime,” Walker said.

Walker is rated as a three-star prospect, ranked as the no. 3 defensive end in Louisiana, No. 33 in the south and No. 74 in the nation by Scout.com.
