Stanley Nabs First Offer, Talks Recruitment

Vero Beach quarterback Carter Stanley picked up his first FBS offer earlier this month and has since seen his recruitment pick up. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal caller passed for 3,070 yards, 40 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and rushed for another 579 yards and seven scores in leading the Indians to an 11-1 record in 2014. Scout.com caught up with Stanley for an update on his recruitment.

The following interview was conducted on Twitter via direct messages:

RP: I saw you picked up an offer

Carter Stanley

from UConn recently, is that right?

Stanley: Yes sir, a lot of interest from other school has come up since the offer.

RP: Who all are you hearing from?

Stanley: UConn, Penn State, Wake Forest, Miami, Troy, and I haven't talked to coach Morris (TTU) for about a week, FIU and Bowling Green

RP: How much of a relief was it (or not) to get that first offer?

Stanley: Big relief! I know I can play at the D1 level in a power 5 conference but I wasn't getting those looks. So it was a big step when they offered.

RP: Where are you at with UConn? What do you think about the Huskies?

Stanley: Scheduling an official visit soon, most likely the 24th or 31st. I have only met coach [Vincent] Brown and I really like him. They have a fairly new staff. I think they're headed in the right direction. Can't wait to visit.

RP: Nice. What about some of the other schools you mentioned? Who do you like and why?

Stanley: I really like Wake Forest, I went there this summer and loved the campus and the coaching staff

RP: Have you visited anywhere else?

Stanley: I went to some FCS schools this summer; Colgate, Furman, Coastal Carolina

RP: Are any of those schools still in play or are you just looking FBS?

Stanley: Colgate is really the only one I still talk to, but I haven't really talked to them recently.

RP: You mentioned Tech and coach Morris earlier. How much did you talk? When did you first hear from him? And what did you talk about?

Stanley: We just exchanged contact info, and I gave him my coaches info, he spoke to my coach about a week and a half ago. He told me to just keep in touch.

RP: Alright. Is there anything I'm missing, anything you'd like to add about your recruitment?

Stanley: Nothing that I can think of, excited to see what will happen.

RP: Me too. Congrats on your success and good luck moving forward. Thanks for your time.

Stanley: Thank you!
