Rumors started to swirl around pretty early Thursday morning on Twitter that Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury was visiting Allen High School.
Of course Thursday was a big day in the recruiting world as the dead period was lifted and coaches were once again allowed to meet face-to-face with prospects.
Allen senior offensive lineman Cody Wheeler (6-4, 285) confirmed with RaiderPower.com early Thursday afternoon that Kingsbury had in fact been in the building to visit the three-time state champs. In fact Wheeler was one of the players Kingsbury met with.
"Yeah, we talked about how he liked me as a player and liked what I do on the field," Wheeler said. "He said they would possibly offer me over the weekend."
Wheeler, who was Allen's starting center, has been committed to North Texas since July, but said he was listening to Tech and if the Red Raiders offered he would have to consider taking a visit to the South Plains.
Stay tuned to RaiderPower.com for updates on Wheeler's recruitment.
