Four-Star LB Talks Texas Tech

Houston Elsik linebacker Dontavious Jackson is one of the most coveted 2016 recruits in Texas. RaiderPower.com caught up with him recently to see where he stands with Texas Tech and what he thinks of the hiring of David Gibbs as defensive coordinator.

Houston area 2016 four-star linebacker Dontavious Jackson's list of offers keeps growing but Texas Tech is one of the teams recruiting him the hardest.

Jackson standing at 6-foot-2 and 237 pounds is ranked No. 4 inside linebacker in the nation and No. 1 in Texas.

Jackson hold offers from Arizona State, Cal, Houston, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt.

Out of those offers Jackson said Cal, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Nebraska and Duke are the schools he is hearing from most.

As for the Red Raiders, Jackson said he keeps in touch with assistant coach Kevin Curtis everyday. In fact, Jackson said CurtiS visited him at Elsik High School on Friday

"He's really cool and relates to me," Jackson said. "We have a great bond. We usually just talk about the day and whatever topics we pick up."

Jackson also commented on the new addition to Texas Tech’s coaching staff, defensive coordinator David Gibbs, and said that he is a great addition.

“He is a great man and leader,” Jackson said.

Jackson tweeted about playing behind Texas Tech’s freshman 5-star defensive end Breiden Fehoko.

He added that it would be an absolute pleasure to play behind him and he knows that Fehoko is an outstanding player.

Jackson said he has not planned anything yet but will be making official visits soon.

Ultimately, Jackson said he wants to be in a program that provides a great education with a great business program, early player comfort and support.
