Texas Tech Flips Junior College DB

Navarro College DB Paul Banks committed to the Red Raiders on Saturday during an official visit.

RaiderPower.com confirmed that Navarro College cornerback Paul Banks flipped his commitment from North Texas to Texas Tech on Saturday during a visit to Lubbock.

Banks told RaiderPower.com on Thursday night the visit was set up just hours earlier that day. The three-star prospect committed to North Texas on Jan. 23, but was also a Houston commit before that as he had pledged to play for new Texas Tech coaches David Gibbs and Zac Spavital when they were running the Cougars' defense.

Banks (6-foot-1, 175 pounds), who totaled 22 tackles and 12 pass breakups in 10 games last seasons at Navarro, was quick to point out why he likes Gibbs and Spavital so much.

"(They are) men of they word and I like their attitude towards their players. They treat you as you're a part of their team already."

Banks is the 18th overall commit, seventh of the defense and first corner of Tech's 2015 class.

He has three years to play two seasons and is expected to enroll this summer.
