Why Banks Committed to Texas Tech

Navarro College DB Paul Banks discusses why he committed to the Red Raiders while visiting this weekend.

Navarro College cornerback Paul Banks picked up an offer and committed on his visit to Texas Tech this weekend.

The Red Raiders were able to flip Banks (6-foot-1, 175) who was formerly committed to North Texas and Houston before that. A big part of this flip were the newest additions to the Texas Tech defensive staff, defensive coordinator David Gibbs and safeties coach Zac Spavital.

Banks said that pair and the rest of the young coaching staff is what made Texas Tech stand out and made him want to commit.

Aside from hanging out with the coaches, Banks said he spent time with his former Navarro teammate Devin Lauderdale, who showed him a good time this weekend. Banks said he was impressed with the campus and facilities.

“It was very nice,” Banks said. “Pretty big campus, that is spaced out and the facilities were cool”

Banks added he was pleasantly surprised by how much bigger Lubbock was than he expected.

All in all, Banks said his favorite part was receiving an offer from the Red Raiders. He will head to campus this summer and have three years to play two seasons.
