“It feels great,” Giles said. “This is a dream come true. My dream has always been to play football and go to Texas Tech.”
Giles was the third player to send in his letter to Texas Tech today. He said the day started with a ceremony involving the whole Fort Bend community and then ended with a signing ceremony at Elkins high school where the students came to support their friends who committed to play at the next level.
Giles was dressed in an all white suit with a red vest topped with a Texas Tech hat.
“In recent years I always saw everyone wore all black to there signing day ceremonies,” Giles said, “ but I wanted changed it up a bit and do something different”
Texas Tech added South Oak Cliff’s wide receiver JF Thomson to this signing class at the last minute and Giles said that is a great addition to this class.
“I just watched his highlights about five minutes ago,” Giles said, “and it will be a great fit for us. We have a bunch of playmakers on the outside and inside, it will be easy for Mahomes to get the ball to us.”
Between now and the time Giles gets on campus he said he will be running track and working on receiver fundamentals. After playing quarterback at Elkins high school Giles will transition to receiver for Texas Tech but is confident the transition will be smooth.
“Right now I’m working on track and getting my speed,” Giles said. “Before and after track practice I’m running routes and practicing catching the ball.”
Overall, Giles can’t wait to get to Lubbock and get to work.
“I can’t say enough how excited I am,” Giles said. “I was very excited when they offered, now that I have officially signed, I’m ready to get there play”
