Texas Tech Latest to Offer Manvel Linebacker

RaiderPower.com caught up with Manvel linebacker Jordan Carmouche for the scoop on a flurry of recent offers, including one from the Red Raiders.

Manvel rising senior linebacker Jordan Carmouche picked up offers from half of the Big 12 just last week alone. Texas Tech capped the flurry on Saturday joining the fold with Texas, Baylor, Kansas and Oklahoma.

"It's truly a blessing from God," said Carmouche on Sunday afternoon.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound versatile linebacker also holds offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Houston, Missouri, Northwestern and SMU.

New Texas Tech defensive coordinator David Gibbs and linebackers coach Zac Spavital have now actually offered Carmouche twice.

"Yes they were the first to offer me (when they were coaching at Houston)," Carmouche said. "It's a great relationship and I like the way they get after it on defense."

Carmouche said Gibbs and Spavital see him moving around playing both inside and outside in Tech's scheme and definitely rushing the passer in situations.

Rated as a three-star prospect by Scout, Carmouche totaled 57 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks an interception, a fumble recover and four pass breakups in 14 games played.

Carmouche has spring trips planned to visit Baylor, Texas and Oklahoma. He doesn't currently have a visit planned to Lubbock, but said, "I'll definitely make it up there."

What is Carmouche looking for overall from a program and school?

"Great coaches, great academics and a chance to play for a national championship every year."

Carmouche was one of two prospects from Manvel that Tech offered on Saturday (offensive lineman Austin Myers) and one of four for the 2016 recruiting cycle (athlete D'Eriq King and safety Deontay Anderson).
