Lucich plays on the offensive and defensive lines for Woodsboro but is being recruited as a tackle on both sides of the ball. Although he holds no offers he has been talking to Texas Tech, Texas State, Houston, SMU and Abilene Christian.
During his junior season Lucich recorded 153 tackles, 44 of those for loss and nine sacks. He said that he prefers to play on defense but thinks his skills could be used on the other side as well.
Lucich described himself as a fast, strong tackle that is quick and explosive off the line.
“I’m a very aggressive player,” Lucich said. “I have a no mercy mentality and get done what I need to.”
Those skills are what attracted Texas Tech offensive line coach Lee Hays, who has been in contact with Lucich for the past few weeks. He said coach Hays is recruiting him on the offensive line and will be making a visit to Woodsboro to meet with him this spring. Lucich added that Hays told him they could switch and take a look at him on defense as well.
So far, Lucich is very interested in Texas Tech’s program.
“Texas tech is very high on my list,” Lucich said. “Texas Tech is just like home. It has that country feel to it. When I talk to the coaching staff they seem like humble and the school has a well-rounded system. “
According to Lucich, the Texas State coaching staff is also planning to visit his school soon and he is looking to set up visits to the schools he has been in contact with.
During the offseason Lucich is running the weight man relay in track, and the team has been placing first. He is also preparing for the next level by working with a personal trainer to add some weight to his build.
