"Yeah, I loved it. It was really nice. I'm glad I got to meet coach Hays and got to see coach Jinks. I got to see the big stadium, got to see what Lubbock's like. It was kind of a different feel than a city. But it was great to see Lubbock."
Pancotti went with his mother to West Texas, and expressed an interest in involving his family in his decision. He will bring another family member - his sister - when he visits Lubbock a second time next month.
"My mom and I went up last time and I want to take my older sister up there to check out Lubbock and check out Tech."
Coach Lee Hays is playing an instrumental role in Pancotti's recruitment. The offensive line coach is even coming all the way down to Houston next month to catch a practice.
Where do the Red Raiders stand with the junior?
"They're leading, and I'm talking with my family right now about making a decision for a commitment or not. We're definitely going to take a trip back in May."
While Pancotti is open about where Tech stands with him, he still plans on having a busy summer. The prospect is planning to go on unofficial visits or participate in satellite camps of almost every Power Five school in Texas - Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, and Baylor. In addition to that, he also plans on visiting Kansas State.
Bellaire Episcopal is a powerhouse in Texas private high school football. They went 7-2 overall last year, beating the likes of Dallas Prime Prep and Houston Christian, going undefeated in their zone. Pancotti is fired up about next season.
"Last year we went undefeated in the SPC. Hopefully we can be undefeated period this year, but we have a lot of competition to go against next season."
Episcopal will look to field another tough squad next season, returning many starters on offense.
"Our last running back was a senior who graduated, but our O-line is keeping 3 from last year, quarterback's the same, and the receivers are the same."
Pancotti has plenty of experience in the spread offense, and will diversify that experience with a slight schematic change in Episcopal's offense next season.
"We still run zone plays with the linemen and we still do man plays as well. We do a good amount of pulling plays. I think next year we're gonna run a Pistol, and then we're also gonna have a fullback/TE in the backfield."
Pancotti is looking to wrap his recruitment up before the summer begins in earnest. He holds offers from Texas Tech and Houston.
