Stawarz Anxious to Get to Texas Tech

RaiderPower.com caught up with junior college offensive lineman Paul Stawarz, who was a welcome late addition to Texas Tech's 2015 signing class.

Texas Tech added one more guy to their 2015 class in college of DuPage (Ill.) offensive tackle Paul Stawarz, who is anxious to get to campus this summer.

Stawarz had one more year of eligibility at the junior college level but chose a different route after he received offers from both Northern Illinois and Texas Tech. While on his visit with the Red Raiders in late March, Stawarz received an offer.

Shortly after returning home, Stawarz (6-foot-5, 300 pounds) decided to go to the next level and commit to Texas Tech.

“When I took my official I just felt right, there was no reason to wait for anything else,” Stawarz said. “It felt like a good place and I felt comfortable there.’

On his visit he said he met and was impressed by the coaching staff adding he knows head coach Kliff Kingsbury has the team going in the right direction.

You can credit Lee Hays for this one as he has built a good relationship with Stawarz and been keeping in contact with him on a ‘constant basis.’

“I got to meet everyone, it was a lot at once,” Stawarz said. “I think everyone on the coaching staff is really nice and we got along great on the visit.”

Stawarz will report to campus on June 1 and has four years to play three seasons. He said he is excited to come in and compete for his spot but has the option to redshirt if needed.

“I’m excited for everything. It’s a great place,” Stawarz said.
