Temple Speed Demon Talks Tech Offer
With that success Curtis (6-0, 170) has begun to stockpile offers--up to eight and counting. Texas Tech is the most recent school to offer him.
RP: First off congrats on the offer. How'd it go down? Which coach offered you?
Curtis: Coach [Eric] Morris offered me and I guess he liked me, because he offered me in the first 10 minutes of practice. And my speed had a big part to do with it.
RP: Lol. First 10 min? Did he just pull you aside or what? What did he say?
Curtis: He told my wide receiver coach that he was offering me.
RP: Ah. You said your speed had a lot to do with it. How fast are you? Do you have an official 40 or 100 time?
Curtis: My 40 time is a 4:44 and my 100 time is 10:61.
RP: Nice. What do you think of Coach Morris? Do you talk to him a lot?
Curtis: He is a laid back coach and tells you he know what guys he is looking for and he wants to win. We just started talking last week.
RP: Have you talked with any other Tech coaches?
Curtis: No sir.
RP: Has Morris said how he sees you fitting in to the system? Does he see you as an inside WR or outside or both?
Curtis: An outside WR and he says I can help them a lot.
RP: What else stood out about what Morris said? What made an impression on you?
Curtis: That he is a coach that is all about taking somebody to the next level.
RP: How familiar with the program are you? What do you know about Tech?
Curtis: I know that they have a fast offense and they throw the ball more than 30 times a game and you guys send people to the league like Michael Crabtree and Eric Ward, really good receivers.
RP: Have you ever visited Tech before and do you have one planned in the future?
Curtis: No sir, but I plan on visiting this summer.
RP: Scout has you with offers from Tech, Colorado St., KU, KSU, Toledo, Tulsa and Wisconsin. Are we leaving anyone out?
Curtis: And SMU.
RP: Ok. I'll update your profile. Where are you at in your recruitment? Do you have a top group and do you have a timetable for committing?
Curtis: I don't have one right now. I just feel blessed at this moment.
RP: Makes sense. What are looking for in a school and program overall? What is most important to you?
Curtis: Good academics and if they have a great fan base.
RP: One more question: Y'all gave Aledo a run for their money in the title game last season. I saw you had three grabs for 74 yards and a TD yourself. I know y'all are bringing back a lot, but you lost quarterback Chad President and some other pieces. What does this team look like and can you make another run?
Curtis: We look good. We have a lot of returning starters and they want to make it to that game and I can't wait to get on the ride with them.
RP: That's great stuff. I appreciate your time. Let me know when you pick up more offers and when you plan to visit Tech. And Congrats again.
Curtis: Thank you.
