Oklahoma Receiver to Visit Texas Tech Soon

RaiderPower.com caught up with Oklahoma Jenks receiver Dillon Stoner for the lowdown on his relationship with Texas Tech, his overall recruitment and summer visit plans. Get the scoop inside.

Dillon Stoner announced via Twitter he received an offer from Texas Tech in late May.

Stoner is a standout two-way performer at receiver and corner for Jenks, not only one of the top programs in Oklahoma, but the nation, coming off a third consecutive state title.

The 6-foot, 170-pound athlete told RaiderPower.com the Red Raiders offered him exclusively at receiver, despite the fact Stoner was selected as a second-team all-state corner as a junior last season. Stoner also serves as Jenks' punter and is an accomplished punt returner, so don't be surprised if he contributes in a variety of ways to whichever school he chooses.

Stoner holds offers from Tech, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Kansas, North Texas, Southern Mississippi, Washington State and Wyoming. He told RaiderPower.com in a recent interview his top four schools are Tech, Arkansas, Kansas and Washington State.

The following is a Q&A conducted over Twitter via direct messages:

RaiderPower.com: First off, how did the offer from Tech go down? Which coach offered you?

Stoner: Coach Kingsbury gave me a call and told me that they were going to offer.

RaiderPower.com: what did Kingsbury say when he offered & what was your reaction?

Stoner: He told me he could see me fitting in very well with their offense and how they are already turning things around from last year. I was really excited. I've grown up watching Tech play so it was kind of surreal.

RaiderPower.com: Which Tech coach is leading your recruitment?

Stoner: I talk to coach Spavital and coach Chiaverini the most right now.

RaiderPower.com: Is Tech recruiting you at CB, WR or both?

Stoner: Tech offered me for just WR.

RaiderPower.com: Do you have a preference of which position you play?

Stoner: I just want to play wherever I can help the team the most and get on the field the fastest.

RaiderPower.com: Do they see you playing inside in the slot or outside?

Stoner: Slot.

RaiderPower.com: How long has Tech been recruiting you?

Stoner: They started recruiting me during the middle of track season.

RaiderPower.com: What is your impression of Tech and where do you stand with them?

Stoner: I really like the coaches and they are in my top 4 for sure. My top 4 are tech, Arkansas, Washington State, and Kansas (no order).

RaiderPower.com: Which schools are recruiting you the hardest?

Stoner: Tech, Arkansas, and Washington State have been recruiting me the hardest.

RaiderPower.com: Where have you visited, who do you have visits planned with and do you plan on visiting Tech? If so, when?

Stoner: I have visited Arkansas and Kansas. I plan on going to Lubbock, June 14th. That is the only visit I have planned right now.

RaiderPower.com: Do you have an idea of when you want to decide?

Stoner: Sometime this summer. I don't have an exact date.

RaiderPower.com: Thanks for your time and congrats on all your success.

Stoner: No problem. Thank you.
