“I was really happy. They are a huge school in a huge conference,” McCollum said.
This 6-foot-6, 270-pound tackle got he call from Texas Tech’s offensive line coach Lee Hays, the evening after participating in Texas Tech camp. McCollum said he did well enough that day for the coaches to go ahead and offer him.
McCollum broke down his performance that day and said he mainly participated in drills with the offensive line, and 1-on-1 drills throughout the day.
“I thought I did pretty good, took coaching well, had good footwork and technique.” McCollum said.
McCollum’s recruiting had started picking up this spring and his offers list is made up of Air Force, Houston, Nevada, Northwestern, Texas State.
Houston has been recruiting McCollum for a while now and he said that he will be making a visit to check out their campus and facilities this week. He also told Scout back in May that he plans on visiting Texas State as well.
For now, McCollum said he wants to take his time and wait until later in the summer to prioritize his schools. He added that he really liked the way Texas Tech and Houston did things and it won’t be an easy decision for him.
