The 6-foot, 173-pound corner who has been clocked at 4.51 seconds in the 40-yard-dash attended the Red Raiders' satellite camp in New Braunfels on Friday. Fields told Tech cornerbacks coach Kevin Curtis about his decision first, who according to Fields, jumped up and down and hugged him.
Fields said he had made up his mind to commit "way before he went to camp" and was quick to point to the coaching staff as the reason for his commitment.
"Man, it's Tech. Their coaching staff has been good to me and I can't wait to explore their campus," Fields said.Fields added he doesn't have a visit set up yet, but that he plans on making the trip soon.
Texas Tech offered Fields in late May and is his lone offer, though he has received interest from others in Texas such as Baylor, who he also camped with.
Fields is the 15th overall, fifth defensive and second corner commit for the Red Raiders of the 2016 class.
