McCollum Recaps Texas Tech Visit

Klein Oak offensive lineman Ryan McCollum visited Texas Tech on Friday after picking up an offer from the Red Raiders a week earlier. RaiderPower.com caught up with him for the details on his trip to the South Plains.

Texas Tech is climbing to the top of Klein Oak offensive lineman Ryan McCollum’s list after his recent visit to Lubbock.

“The visit was great. My decision is going to be so hard,” McCollum said.

The 6-foot-6, 270-pound lineman received an offer from the Red Raiders just over a week ago at their satellite camp in Spring, Texas, and it didn’t take him long to make it trip to the Hub City.

While on his visit McCollum got to see the campus from top to bottom and was impressed by all of it. Specifically the athletic facilities and the uniforms really stood out to him, but he also enjoyed attending a workout.

McCollum added he could definitely see himself playing in the Jones, especially after hearing how rowdy Red Raider Nation gets.

Coach Lee Hayes and Eric Morris are leading McCollum’s recruitment and spent the most time with him on his visit just talking recruitment and about the program in general.

The visit puts Texas Tech “high up there” for McCollum, who is also hearing a lot from Houston and Louisiana-Lafayette. He has visited all three of the schools within the past few weeks and has no more visits lined up for now.

There won’t be a decision from McCollum in the near future as he said he wants to take things slow and really prepare for the season that is ahead of him. In the meantime he said he will be working out with his teammates whose goal is to take Klein Oak football all the way to state.
