Texas Tech Taking a Look at Green

RaiderPower.com interviewed 2017 cornerback Darrion Green about his relationship with Texas Tech and overall recruitment.

With nineteen commitments already in the class of 2016, the Texas Tech coaching staff has the luxury of spending more time working on the class of 2017, and Dallas-Fort Worth athlete/defensive back prospect Darrion "Speedy" Green is one prospect who is seeing some interest come his way.

Texas Tech has been recruiting Green for awhile now, since before the dead period began during his sophomore year. The three-star recruit didn't get to make it to one of the two DFW-area satellite camps last month, as he was toting a cast on his right arm from an injury.

It's still early in the process for him, but he thinks highly of the Red Raiders so far.

"They're recruiting prospects wisely, and good players commit to good schools like Texas Tech."

Coach Darrin Chiaverini is recruiting the athlete, who saw time at corner and running back for Woodrow Wilson. Tech is recruiting him strictly as a defensive back.

"We talk once a week, but I will start contacting him more often."

Green, who does not yet hold an offer, reports interest from Arkansas, Baylor, Nebraska, North Texas, Ohio State, SMU, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M. He named Oklahoma, South Alabama, and TCU as the schools recruiting him the hardest.
