Wallace stands at 5-foot-11, 295 pounds and is ranked the tenth best defensive tackle in Texas and the midlands region by Scout. He has a total of 12 offers but says he is hearing from Texas Tech, Iowa State, SMU and Washington the most.
This summer Wallace has visited a Texas Tech satellite camp in Lancaster and SMU camp, where he received an offer.
Wallace said his offer from the Mustangs was a surprise, because he was there supporting his teammates and didn’t expect to leave with an offer. He decided to visit the SMU campus the following day.
As for the Red Raiders, Wallace said it was good to finally meet their coaches at the satellite camp. He has been keeping in touch with coach Mike Smith once a week, and coach Emmett Jones about three times a week.
“I think the coaching staff is great. I met with them at the camp in Lancaster and I felt like I was a priority and everyone showed love,” Wallace said.
He went on that although he didn’t workout at the camp he enjoyed getting to hangout with the staff, “watch them in action,” and talk with other Texas Tech offers and commits.
That camp put Texas Tech in a good standing with Wallace.
“Well at this point I really want to go down and visit, but other than that I really like Tech,” Wallace said.
The other schools really catching Wallace’s attention besides the Red Raiders are SMU, Iowa State and UTSA.
No visits have been set in stone yet for Wallace, but a decision could be coming very soon. Wallace said he thinks he will commit at the end of August.
