OL Bailey Smith Talks Texas Tech Commitment

Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy offensive lineman Bailey Smith was offered by Texas Tech Wednesday morning and committed shortly after to Red Raider offensive line coach Lee Hays (pictured above).

Lucas (Tex.) Lovejoy offensive lineman Bailey Smith took little time deciding to commit to Texas Tech as shortly after being offered Wednesday he announced his pledge to the Red Raiders via Twitter.

"I love the school, love the coaches, very similar offense to my school, Coach Hays was very honest with me about everything," Smith said.

Smith explained that Hays was very open with him throughout the recruiting process about where they stood on scholarships available. When one opened up and Tech offered Wednesday, Smith jumped at the opportunity.

"Me and coach hays have been talking since the camp (in Lubbock) I went to in June," Smith said. "He was very big on me and just had to find a spot for me and it finally all worked out."

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman, who visited Texas Tech for the Iowa State game on Oct. 10, said Hays sounded very excited when he committed and added Hays sees him as a guy who could play anywhere on the line at Tech.

Smith is the 26th overall commitment and the fourth offensive lineman pledge of Tech's 2016 class.
