RaiderPower.com caught up with 2017 four-star defensive back Adam Beck, who is fresh off helping George Ranch claim its first state title. The Longhorns wrapped a perfect 16-0 season with a 56-0 win over Mansfield Lake Ridge (led by Texas Tech signee Jett Duffey) in the Texas UIL Class 5A Divsion I championship.
Beck, a four-star prospect who is ranked as the No. 2 cornerback in Texas, No. 3 in the Midlands region and No. 23 in the nation by Scout, answered questions via direct messages on Twitter on Monday.
Raider Power: First off, I have to ask about your recruitment by Tech. Of course they offered back in June, but where do y'all stand?
Beck: I talk to coach Gibbs now every day since you know they fired Coach Curtis. I'm still on great terms with them.
Raider Power: That was my next question. What do you think about Gibbs? What do you talk about?
Beck: I like him a lot. He was actually able to see me last spring when they initiated the offer. We talk about everything. From me coming up on a visit to how school's going.
Raider Power: Yeah, I said June on the offer, but it was May during a satellite camp, right? Do you have a set date for a visit to Tech?
Beck: Yeah, it was May. I don't have a set day yet but I will for sure let you know when I figure that out
Raider Power: Who do you have offers from right now? Who else do you hear from a lot?
Beck: I have Tech, Colorado, Kansas, Houston, SMU. I hear from TCU and A&M a lot. I think they are about to offer me I'm really close with them.
Raider Power: Do you have a favorite or group of favorites yet?
Beck: No, not yet.
Raider Power: Do you have any idea yet on when you want to decide?
Beck: No, I haven't.
Raider Power: What are you looking for in a program and school?
Beck: I'm looking for a program where I can benefit academically and I'm trying to go to a school that develops me as a complete DB and will get me to that next level.
Raider Power: Do you see yourself as a CB for sure at the next level or could you see yourself playing safety? You appear to be a physical player.
Beck: I could see myself as a safety or hybrid.
Raider Power: How does Gibbs say he sees you fitting in at Tech? Where does he see you playing?
Beck: He said that I could start out at corner then eventually move to safety because of my physicality.
Raider Power: Well, I should have said this at the beginning, but congrats on the undefeated state championship! What was it like winning the title?
Beck: I appreciate that and it was crazy because I had just transferred to the school and I made the run in playoffs at my old school but never to state.
