Texas Tech began in its spring strength and agility program under new strength and conditioning coach Rusty Whitt on Friday.

Texas Tech began its spring strength and stamina training program under new strength and conditioning coach Rusty Whitt on Friday.

Whitt, who told ESPN in a previous interview he joined the Army primarily because of 9-11, served in the United States Army as a Senior Special Forces Communication Sergeant in the 10th Special Forces Group according to his bio. He served from 2003-09 and was deployed to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom V and VI.

Whitt is known for his unorthodox training methods and according to this testimonial from an anonymous player who trained under Whitt at Louisiana-Lafayette, the Texas Tech players are in for the physical and mental strength transformation of their lifetime.

The former player also said he has more respect for Whitt than he’ll ever know and that if the team buys in it will be special.

Two days down, six weeks to go.
