Red Raiders Show Off New Uniforms

Texas Tech fans will notice a few changes to the uniforms of the Red Raiders during the upcoming football season. Texas Tech along with Nike unveiled these new uniforms on Monday.

Texas Tech Head Coach Mike Leach says that they used Nike because of the selection of uniforms they had available. "They had some really good selections and designs," said Coach Leach. Then the coaches and players gave their input on what the uniforms should look like. Coach Leach says he is happy with the final product. "I think it came out to be a pretty good combination," said Coach Leach

Coach Leach said that the ability to sell jerseys did not play much of a role in the selection of uniforms. "We just try to pick something out that looks pretty decent," said Coach Leach. They decided to add more red to the jerseys because there were many people that seemed to want more red involved.

Coach Leach wasn't sure what color combos would be used during the season, but he did say that they could be mixed and matched, so Red Raider fans may see a number of different combinations.

The uniform unveiling was part of the Texas Tech women's football clinic. The clinic drew over three hundred attendees. "The turnout and enthusiasm has been pretty impressive," said Coach Leach. "Every year it kind of surprises me." Those in attendance learned about football by participating in drills with Texas Tech players and coaches. Coach Leach thought that events like these were important in generating excitement for the up coming season.
