Euless Trinity cornerback John Davis announced his commitment to Texas Tech via Twitter on Monday.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back is rated as three-star prospect by Scout.com. Davis narrowed down his top three to Tech, Kansas State and Utah in early July. He visited Lubbock in late July and then Kansas State just last weekend.
Davis attended the Red Raiders' satellite camp at Trinity, his school, back in June and impressed the coaching staff enough to pick up an offer.
"It was great. The coaches welcomed me, even though the camp was at my school. They were very welcoming. I love them. They were pushing me all day, they're a great staff. Great. I like the way they teach their technique at corner. I liked the way that we did the four stations at the beginning so they could see our endurance and how well we can compete."
Davis, who is set to graduate in December and be available for spring practice, is Tech's 13th commitment of the 2017 class and the fifth on defense. He chose Tech over offers from Kansas State, Utah, Louisiana-Monroe, Minnesota, Nevada, Tulane, UTSA and Utah State.
