One of the first Texas Tech offensive line offers to go out this spring was to Denton Guyer offensive tackle John Lanz.
"The offensive line coach stopped by in the morning, right after we finished lifting. He came out again and watched our spring practice. Afterwards, he talked to all our coaches. Then we talked on Twitter and he told me to call him. I called him and he offered. He said he had a great conversation with my coaches, that he loves the way I play and that he really likes me and wanted to offer me a scholarship."
Lanz's recruitment has picked up quite a bit this year.
"I have eleven offers now. I'm hearing from Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and Baylor are always staying in touch with me, there's quite a few."
The junior shared his thoughts on Texas Tech.
"Texas Tech is a very strong program, I will definitely take them into consideration. They're in-state, which is always nice. I'll probably go out and check it out over the summer. I look forward to building a better relationship with all the coaches and coach Jones."
Guyer teammate and defensive tackle Arian Bhat was with Lanz at Texas Tech's spring game, Will he accompany the offensive lineman on the visit to Lubbock this summer?
"Probably. We're really good friends, so we'll probably go out there together."
Lanz currently has no timeline for making a decision.
"We discussed it a little. It's still a little early for me, I want to get through spring ball and see where it looks from there. I'll probably have a better idea after spring ball."
The junior shared what he is looking for in a school.
"I want to go to a school with a very strong education, a very strong football program. A program that has a history of winning, and with great coaching."
Are any schools standing out at the moment?
"Not really. I'm just trying to build relationships with all the coaches and see where it takes me from there."
