Latest Texas Tech Commit a Longtime Fan

Dallas Lake Highlands receiver Corey Fulcher discusses his decision to commit to Texas Tech.

Texas Tech added another 2018 commitment yesterday in Lake Highlands wideout Corey Fulcher, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Fulcher committed on the spot after being offered by Texas Tech - his first Division One offer.

"Texas Tech has been my favorite Big 12 school since fourth or fifth grade. Growing up watching them, watching the swagger of the team. When coach [Emmett] Jones got in contact, my interest got higher and higher, just talking to him. He told me to keep working and to keep sending him film."

The offer was extended after an in-person evaluation earlier in the week by the wide receivers coach.

"He had visited the school on Monday during practice, and I had ran some routes for him. I talked to him afterwards, he said he liked what he saw and to keep in touch. The next day, I was in class, and he texted me and asked me if I was ready to be a Red Raider. I told him yes sir. I called him the next period and he told me they offered me a full ride scholarship."

So what prompted Fulcher to commit on the spot?

"Like I was saying, I've been liking Texas Tech for a long time. One of my goals was to get an offer from Texas Tech early on in the year. My teammate [2018 defensive end Trumane Bell] and I, we were saying that if we ever got an offer from Texas Tech, we would commit right away."

The new WR commit further discussed other factors in his decision to commit to Texas Tech.

"Texas Tech has a good business program. I'm majoring in Business and Marketing, which is big for me. I can finish school there and it has everything I need. And then just the swagger of the coaches, their style of play, I just fell in love with it all."

Fulcher, who plays a variety of roles at Lake Highlands,

"He said he sees me as someone who can either play outside or the slot receiver."

The Metroplex prospect hasn't been out to Lubbock before, but plans on visiting soon.

"No, sir. But coach Jones says he's going to get me down there as soon as possible, to see the campus."

Since the offer, have any other programs gotten in contact with Fulcher?

"I had a workout with Florida this morning, they came down to see our quarterback. Tulane and SFA have also gotten in touch."
