JUCO LB/RE Has A Top Four

Terrence Smith, JUCO LB/RE stud from N.W. Mississippi, is a Texas Tech target and Raider Power caught up with him to get the skinny on his recruitment and more.

Before getting into the recruiting part of the interview, let's take a look at Terrence Smith's stats...

As a freshman at NW Mississippi CC, the JUCO standout notched 64 tackles, 12 TFLs, 3 sacks, 4 FFs and one 1 FR.

In last week's season-opening win over Antelope Valley, Smith said, "I did good...played well. I had 7 tackles and a sack."

That is good...

So who leads for his John Hancock in the Race to National Signing Day '04?

"I'm wide-open," Smith said. "I want to take my visits."

Four teams have stepped up with 'ships and presently lead for the right to host the 6-4, 240-pounder on an official visit.

"So far, Tech, Memphis, LSU and Nebraska have offered," Smith said. "And I'm probably going to take visits to all four of those schools."

5th visit?

"I don't know yet."

What we do know is the Red Raiders will have the LB/RE during the weekend of the Iowa State game (October 10-12) and will get the opportunity to make an impression on not only Smith, but several other JUCOs.

If Mike Leach and Co. were to ink one or more of Smith's teammates, would that give Tech a better shot at Smith?

"Yes, it would. If they want to go there, then I'd feel even better about going there. And, if we all went to Tech, we could make a really big impact."
