Texas Tech defeats Iowa

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-2) defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes (6-2) by a score of 65-59 to extend their win streak to six games. Andre Emmett led all scorers with 23 points.

Texas Tech started the game quickly, but Iowa kept it close early. Texas Tech's offensive production allowed them to extend heir lead to 39-27 by the half. In the second half Texas Tech had problems with the hawkeye's zone defense. This inability to defeat the zone allowed Iowa to start the half with a 9-2 run. But freethrows down the stretch ensured a Texas Tech victory. The final score was 65-59.

Offense

Offensivel, this game was a tale of two halves. The first half was one of the better halves of offense the Red Raiders' have played this seaosn, but the second half was somewhat dissapointing. Andre Emmett had another of his big games, this time scoring 23 points. Josh Washington came off the bench to score 13 points in the game. This team is still looking for someone to establish themselves as the second scorer on this team, but until them it will probably change every game. That is fine as long as it continues to happen. Without a second player stepping up in every game, this offense will collapse against good teams.

Defense

Another game, another solid defensive performance for Texas Tech.. The Red Raiders are playing great defense, having held 6 of 12 opponents under 60 points. Defensively this team is ready to move into the top half of the Big Twelve, they just need the offense to catch up soon if they are going to achieve their goals.
