Lady Raiders win Surf & Slam Hoop Classic

The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (13-0) blew past the San Diego Toreros (5-7) to win the Surf & Slam Classic in San Diego. Jametra Clark and tournament MVP Jia Perkins were named to the all-tournament team.

Texas Tech took control of this game early and never looked back. Aggressive defense combined with an explosive transition game gave the Lady Raiders a 50-25 at the half. Things didn't get much better for the Toreros in the second half, as Texas Tech continued to dominate, winning the game by a final score of 95-47.

Offense

The Lady Raiders showed just how potent their offense is when facing a physically inferior opponent. The athleticism of the Lady Raiders allowed them to control the game on the offensive end of the court. Jia Perkins led the way with 20 points, while Jametra Clark scored 15 points in tonight's game. This is a nice way for the Lady Raiders to head into the new year.

Defense

Texas Tech continues to put on defensive clinics almost every time they step on the floor. San Diego was outmatched in the game, and it showed on the court. The Lady Raiders played aggressively from the beginning, never letting up until the final whistle. Pressure on the perimeter never allowed San Diego to get into any kind of an offensive rhythm. This defense is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the Big Twelve.
