The Scoop On Jordan Shipley

The recruiting process can take a toll on prospects, parents and even coaches. Since October, that's certainly been the case with Jordan Shipley, and everyone involved in his recruitment. Although he remained committed to Texas throughout the time that rumors swirled about his intentions, speculation and subsequent inquiries from media and coaches alike continued apace. And it's only increased as Signing Day, and his visit date, approaches. So, what's the latest in the Shipley Saga?

Thursday morning, head coach and father of the Burnet blue-chipperBob Shipley called to let us know just a couple of things. But a couple of things that may shed some light on his son's future.

Shipley said, "Everything you're reading out there is pure speculation."

So what's the low down now coach?

"At this point, he has not changed his mind," he said. "He's still committed to Texas."

The questions surrounding the issue of where the kid will visit this weekend has also been a topic of much speculation. With very good friend Graham Harrell scheduled to take his official visit to Lubbock, a lot of folks are thinking that's where Shipley is headed this weekend. But the last known fact we had, had the 4-star wideout trippin' to the Forty Acres...

Anything on that front?

"Jordan's still taking his official visit to Austin this weekend," Shipley said. "If anything changes with Jordan -- right now he hasn't changed his mind -- we'll let you know."

Asked if there was any possibility that the 6-0, 185-pound glue-fingered pass catcher could later change his mind, Shipley's father said, "He's and 18-year old kid. Yeah, he could change his mind. But right now he hasn't and he's going to Austin this weekend."
