Red Raiders survive scare

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (16-2, 4-0) extended their streak of conference wins to four games with an 80-78 victory over the Texas A&M Aggies (7-8, 0-4). Andre Emmett led the Red Raiders to victory, scoring 23 points and hitting the game-winning shot with just six seconds left in the game.

Texas Tech tried to take control of the game early with an 11-0 run to take a 20-9 lead with 10:39 left in the first half. The advantage didn't last long; thanks to a 7-0 Texas A&M run that made the score 21-24 with 7:18 to go in the half. Texas Tech answered with a 9-0 run to stretch their lead to 12 points with 5:10 left in the half. Texas A&M closed the gap to just 3 points at the half. Texas tech led 40-37 at half time.

A&M took the lead early in the second half when an Antoine Wright jumper gave the Aggies a 48-46 lead with 16:10 left in the game. Texas Tech quickly answered with a 4-0 run to take a 50-49 lead with 14:51 to go in the game. Neither team was able to gain an advantage in the final fourteen minutes of the game. A Jessie King layup tied the game at 78 with just 20 seconds on the clock. On the ensuing possession Ronald Ross found Andre Emmett for an inside jumper to give Texas Tech the 80-78 victory.
