Red Raiders fall to Texas in OT

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (16-3, 4-1) saw their win streak end at 12 games following a 62-61 overtime loss to the Texas Longhorns (13-3, 4-1). Royal Ivey hit the game winning free throws with just 18 seconds left in the game to give the Longhorns the victory.

Texas scored the first 6 points of the game, but their lead didn't last long as the Red Raiders used an 8-0 run to take a 14-11 lead with 7:45 left in the half. Texas got back into the lead with a 5-0 run to give the Longhorns a 16-14 lead with 5:13 to go in the first half. The game was tied 22-22 at the half.

Texas Tech got off to a quick start in the second half, scoring the first 10 points to take a 32-22 lead with 17:06 left in the game. A 5-0 run by Texas closed the gap to 32-27 with 14:43 to go in the game. A P.J. Tucker jumper tied the game at 41 with 7:44 left in the game. Jarrius Jackson scored on a jump shot with 1:33 left in the game to give Texas Tech a 53-51 lead. With four seconds left, Brian Boddicker was fouled. Boddicker made the first free throw, but hit the second making the score 53-52 with 4 seconds left. Ronald Ross was fouled on the rebound. Ross made both free throws to give the Red Raiders a 55-52 lead with 3 seconds left in the game. Texas's Brandon Mouton hit a three pointer as time expired to send the game into overtime. In overtime Texas took the lead early and extended their lead to 60-56 with 3:12 left in overtime. A three-pointer by Jackson closed the gap to 60-59 with just 2:01 to go in overtime. Royal Ivey made two free throws with 18 seconds left to make the score 62-59. Ronald Ross was fouled with 5 seconds left, and made both free throws to make the score 62-61. Texas' Kenny Taylor missed his free throw attempt to set up a final play for the Red Raiders. With 1.9 seconds left Jackson got the ball and missed a long three-pointer as time expired, giving Texas the 62-61 victory.
