The state's No. 62 said he enjoyed himself during his official visit weekend.
"My visit went real good," he said, "David Weems showed me around and we had a good time, except that it was snowing so..."
Asked about his status with Tech, the 15-5A District MVP said, "I'm solid, I'll be a Red Raider this year."
Baylor and Illinois have been showing a lot of interest recently, but the three-star wideout said he's happy about the decision he made.
Asked what he thought about potential Red Raider starting quarterbacks such as Robert Johnson, Graham Harrell and Shae Reagan also going to Lubbock, Amendola said, "I didn't know who they were at first, but the more I found out, the happier I was with my decision. They're quality players."
The 5-11, 175 pounder also thinks he can make an impact right away.
"In high school I was a go-to guy on 3rd downs and pressure situations," Amendola said. "I believe I can do that at Tech this year."
The presence of head coach Mike Leach and wide receivers coach Dana Holgorsen in the Amendola household, keeping him solid/firm, may definitely prove that.
