With just a few days to go before National Signing Day, '04, Texas Tech added another body when Taylor QB/ATH Marcus Bunton</b:> gave Mike Leach and Co. an oral commitment before leaving Lubbock Friday morning. The do-it-all prep takes us behind the scenes in his words.
"I guess about a week or so ago, Texas Tech
said they were going to offer me a scholarship and wanted me to take an official visit," Marcus Bunton
said. "Before I left today, Coach Leach
asked me if I wanted to come to Texas Tech. I said, 'Yeah,' and he said they'll send the papers. When I got home, the official scholarship papers were already there. I got them today."
Any chance he'll look anywhere else?
"No, I'm committed to Texas Tech," he said. "It's kind of the place I wanted to go from the beginning. I like what they do offensively, like the school and really enjoyed my visit."
The 5-9, 165-pounder's player host was Red Raider DB Antonio Huffman.
"He showed me around a little bit, showed me the town and I really had a lot of fun."
Bunton could find himself at the running back, wide receiver, defensive back or as a kick/punt-returner.
Anything to pass along to the Red Raider fans?
"I'm really excited about going to Texas Tech, the place I really want to be, and can't wait to get there."
