Red Raiders move past controversy to drop Bears

Head Coach Bob Knight may have been at the center of a Lubbock controversy over the last two days, but that didn't stop the Texas Tech Red Raiders (17-3, 5-1) from defeating the Baylor Bears (6-14, 1-6) by a score of 83-63. Andre Emmett scored 25 points to lead all scorers.

Texas Tech tried to take control of the game early, using a 9-0 run to take an 11-2 lead over Baylor. The Red Raiders extended their lead to as many as 11 points before the Bears began to fight their way back into the game. A 6-0 Baylor run made the score 21-16 with 10:22 left in the half. An 8-0 run by the Bears gave Baylor a 24-23 lead with 6:43 to go in the half. The game was tied at 34 at the half.

The Red Raiders took over the game early in the second half with a 9-0 run that gave Texas Tech a 51-40 lead with 14:26 left in the game. The Red Raiders continued to build their lead throughout the game, resulting in an 83-63 victory.
