Red Raiders fall to Buffs, 85-75

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (17-5, 8-3) took a step backwards in their hopes for first round bye, losing to the Colorado Buffaloes (14-8, 6-5). Devonne Giles scored 18 points in the losing effort, while Colorado's David Harrison led all scorers with 24 points.

Both teams battled for position before a 10-3 Colorado run gave the Buffaloes a 26-19 lead with 7:51 left in the first half. Texas Tech answered with a 7-0 run to tie the game at 26 with 6:53 to go in the half. A 7-0 run gave Colorado a 42-36 lead with 2:27 left in the half. Colorado led 48-42 at halftime.

In the second half, Colorado extended their lead to as many as 10 points early in the half before a 6-0 Texas Tech run made the score 56-52 with 14:23 left in the game. Colorado used a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 68-57 with 8:02 to go in the game. The Red Raiders fought their way back into the game with a 5-0 run that made the score 70-66 with 528 left in the game. Colorado extended their lead to 79-69 with 1:58 to go in the game. Colorado scored 6 of the final 8 points in the game to win by a score of 85-75.
