Red Raiders finish regular season strong

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (21-9, 9-7) defeated the Iowa State Cyclones (16-12, 7-9) to finish the regular season with two straight victories. Senior Andre Emmett scored 9 points in his final game at the United spirit Arena, while Ronald Ross led all scorers with 23 points.

Iowa State got off to a quick start, but Texas Tech answered with a 7-0 run to take a 10-6 lead with 16:26 left in the first half. The Red raiders continued to build their lead, scoring 7 unanswered points to make the score 23-12 with 10:24 to go in the half. Iowa State stayed in the game with a 6-0 run to make the score 23-18 with 7:51 to go in the half. Texas Tech answered with a 5-0 run, extending the Texas Tech lead to 28-18 with 6:05 left in the half. The Red raiders followed that run up with a 6-0 run to make the score 34-20 with 4:31 to go in the half. Texas Tech led 42-29 at the half.

Iowa State started the second half strong, scoring 6 unanswered points to make the score 44-34 with 17:46 left in the game. Texas Tech kept the game out of reach scoring 7 straight points to make the score 55-39 with 7:53 to go in the game. The Cyclones answered with a 5-0 run to make the score 55-44 with 7:15 left in the game. The Cyclones' run fell short, with the Red Raiders scoring 7 unanswered points to take a commanding 62-44 lead with just 5:08 remaining in the game. Texas Tech won the game by a score of 72-58.
