Lady Raiders fall to Baylor

The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (24-7) had their trip to Dallas cut short by the Baylor Lady Bears (24-7), who defeated Texas Tech by a score of 80-72. A career-high 24 points by LaToya Davis wasn't enough to give the Lady Raiders the second round win. The loss knocks Texas Tech out of the Big Twelve tournament and sends Baylor to the semifinals against Texas.

Texas Tech tried to take control of the game early with a 5-0 run to take a 7-4 lead with 17:01 left in the first half. Baylor answered with 10 unanswered points to take a 14-7 lead with 12:05 to go in the half. The Lady Raiders stayed in the game with a 7-0 run to make the score 20-17 with 8:31 left in the game. Baylor scored 5 straight points to extend their lead to 25-17 with 7:03 to go in the game. Baylor led the game 35-29 at the half.

After battling for position, Baylor used a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 56-41 with 11:00 left in the game. Texas Tech battled back into the game with an 8-0 run to make the score 63-57 with 4:35 to go in the game. Unfortunately Texas Tech was unable to get any closer than 6 points. Baylor won by a final score of 80-72.
