Texas Tech advances to semifinal

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (22-9) defeated the Colorado Buffaloes (18-10) to advance to the semifinals of the Big Twelve Tournament, where the Red Raiders will face Oklahoma State on Saturday. Ronald Ross scored 25 points to lead all scorers, while Mikey Marshall made 4 of 5 three point attempts in the victory.

Texas Tech got off to a strong start, scoring 6 of the first 8 points to give the Red raiders a 6-2 lead with 16:34 left in the first half. Colorado scored 5 straight points to take an 18-17 lead with 10:51 to go in the half. Texas Tech was bale to take the lead back and the Red raiders proceeded to score 6 unanswered points to give Texas Tech a 27-20 lead with 5:55 left in the game. Colorado scored the final 5 points of the half to tie the score at 34-34 at halftime.

Colorado took a 41-40 lead early in the second half, but a 5-0 run by the Red raiders gave Texas Tech a 45-41 lead with 14:44 left in the game. Texas Tech continued to extend its lead, scoring 5 unanswered points to make the score 52-44 with 13:16 to go in the game. The Red raiders were able to hold off the Buffaloes' comeback attempts to win by a final score of 79-69.
