Texas Tech falls to St. Joseph's

The Texas Tech Red Raiders came close to a major upset of the number one St. Joseph's Hawks, but the Red Raiders couldn't overcome the deluge of three pointers that the Hawks made in the game. Andre Emmett paced Texas Tech with 18 points, but the Red Raiders had no answer for Jameer Nelson, who scored a game high 24 points.

Texas Tech was the first team to jump out to a lead, scoring 9 unanswered points to take a 21-12 lead with 11:42 left in the first half. The lead was short lived as St. Joseph's answered by scoring 12 straight points to take a 24-21 lead with 9:18 to go in the half. The Hawks extended their lead with another 12-0 run to make the score 36-23 with 4:05 left in the half. The Red Raiders scored the final 8 points of the half to make the score 36-31 at the half.

The Hawks stretched their lead to as many as 8 points early in the second half, but Texas Tech kept the game within reach. The Red Raiders finally made their move, scoring 7 straight points to tie the game at 60 with 5:08 to go in the game. St. Josephs scored 5 unanswered points to stretch their lead to 68-62 with 1:15 left in the game. The Hawks won by a final score of 70-65.
