Lady Raiders fall to Louisiana Tech

The Texas Tech Lady Raiders saw their tournament dreams fade away as they lost to the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Erin Grant paced Tecas Tech with 19 points, all in the first half, but the Lady Raiders couldn't find a way to slow down Erica Smith-Taylor, who scored a game high 30 points.

Louisiana Tech controlled the game early, but Texas Tech scored 7 unanswered points to take an 11-7 lead with 15:12 left in the first half. Louisiana Tech answered with a 6-0 run to give the Lady Techsters a 16-13 lead with 13:09 to go in the half. The Lady Raiders moved back in front by scoring 5 straight points to give Texas Tech a 20-18 lead with 10:45 remaining in the half. Louisiana Tech used a 5-0 run to take a 27-24 lead with 6:24 left in the half. The Lady Techsters continued to build their lead, scoring 8 unanswered points to extend their lead to 43-32 with 1:29 to go in the half.

Louisiana Tech got off to a strong start in the second half, scoring 8 straight points to make the score 51-39 with 16:24 left in the game. Louisiana Tech put the game out of reach with a 6-0 run that gave the Lady Techsters a 71-50 lead with 7:15 to go in the game. Louisiana Tech maintained their lead to win by a final score of 81-64.
