Junior Report: Lufkin DB Alton Dixon

Lufkin DB Alton Dixon is currently listed by TheInsiders.com first as a safety prospect. Dixon, however, told us he can also lock down a corner spot and some college football teams are projecting him at that position as well. We caught up with him briefly to grab a few details regarding his recruitment to date...

At this point, Alton Dixon said he's looking at these teams: "Oklahoma, Arizona, Texas, A&M, LSU, Texas Tech."

"I like the coaches," Dixon said about OU. "They remind me of mine."

Asked what his thoughts on A&M were, the 6-0, 185-pounder said, "Their defense is not that good right now. I have a chance to come in and play as a freshman there."

And LSU...

"They were the first people to talk to me," Dixon said. "And I think I can play in their secondary."

Can he play in Texas' secondary?

"I don't know," he said. "If they offered, I'd have to look at them."

And Texas Tech?

"I feel like if I go there, I could play early."

Dixon logged 42 tackles, 3 INTs and 9 PBUs as a junior playing mostly free safety but said he'll move to corner full time in his final season as a prep.
