De Soto High DE Donald Horton (6-1 240) is receiving a steady stream of attention from recruiters both in the state and around the country this summer. The first-team all-district pass rush specialist has some early leaders and plans to use his summer to check out those schools.
"I plan on taking unofficial visits to both Washington State
," said Horton. "I haven't really been out of Texas so I want to see what other parts of the country have to offer."
According to Horton, playing in the PAC-10 has its allure.
"Being an undersized DE, I'm really more suited to play in a conference that throws the ball around a lot rather than a run based conference," said Horton.
However, Horton stressed that there were a lot of schools that really appeal to him. He currently has offers from Texas Tech, SMU, Kansas, Baylor, Missouri and Boston College.
The Red Raiders in particular have caught his eye as well.
"Coach Sonny Dykes told me that if I took care of business, I'd have a great opportunity to get onto the field as a true freshman," said Horton. "They need help on defense and playing early really appeals to me."
Horton racked up 68 tackles, 5 sacks and forced and recovered 3 fumbles in his junior campaign. We'll keep you up to date with Horton as the news breaks.
