Junior Report:Brent Nickerson

Irving Macarthur DB <b>Brent Nickerson</b> (6-1, 170) has the size and the ability to be a big time corner on the next level. He posted 44 tackles, 3 interceptions, recovered two fumbles and broke up 8 passes in a junior campaign that garnered him first team all-district honors. He's also received 11 scholarship offers to date.

Nickerson currently holds offers from UCLA, Tulsa, Notre Dame, Houston, Georgia Tech, Connecticut, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Arkansas State, Texas Tech, and Duke. Who are his leaders?

"My leaders (in random order) are UCLA, Georgia Tech, OSU, Texas Tech, Tulsa and Notre Dame," said Nickerson.

His thoughts on his favorites?

"At Georgia Tech the coaching staff was down to earth and I like the location," said Nickerson

"The UCLA coaching staff has assured me that I could come in and be a factor in their program. They also raved about my size," Nickerson said.

"Notre Dame has been recruiting me the hardest and they were the first to offer me," said Nickerson.

Oklahoma State is closer to home and they have nice facilities. I also really liked their coach (Miles)," Nickerson said.

Texas Tech is also close to home and I was really impressed with their facilities too. I also like the fact that I could play early if I went there," said Nickerson.

"I got a good feel for the Tulsa coaching staff when I went to camp there and felt at home with them," Nickerson said.

What's it like to receive so much attention from recruiters across the country?

"It's really nice to get so much attention but at the same time I have to keep a level head about it," said Nickerson. "I have to stay focused on my senior season and the goal there; a state championship."
